Candy Wreath Crafts

One of the best thing about candy wreath crafts is the fact that they have a dual purpose. They can create a lovely decoration, but when it’s time to take down all the Christmas stuff, this one won’t take up space because it can be eaten.

Due to the difficulty of this craft and the materials that are used, it is suggested that children 8 and older participate in creating this.

Materials you will need: wire hanger, wrapped candy (like peppermints), regular or curling ribbon, wire cutters, scissors

1. To begin this project you will need to straighten out the hanger. Cut off a piece that is about 12″ long. Shape this 12″ piece into a circle. The diameter will end up being about 5″ across. Take the two ends and wrap them around one another to hold the circle shape in place. If you want a smaller candy cane wreath, you can overlap the two ends to make it smaller.

2. Once you have the wreath base shaped, you can add candy. If you are using mints, it will require about 50 pieces for a 5″ wreath. However, you can use any candy you would like. The amount of candy will depend on how close you want the candies tied together.

3. Cut the ribbon into 8″ pieces. You will be using the ribbon to tie on the candy. Take each piece of candy and tie it to the center of the piece of ribbon, and they tie it onto the wreath. You can either cut off the extra ribbon, or curl it to give it cute, finished touch.

4. Continue tying each candy onto the wreath, until you have as many pieces as you want.

5. You can then cut out a piece of ribbon to create a hanger. Make sure you have a loop.

6. To eat, you don’t even have to remove the wrappers. You can just unravel the end that isn’t tied and enjoy!

Candy wreath crafts make a fun gift, or gift attachment. You can also use this idea to make candy ornaments.
