Christmas Angel Crafts

Christmas angle crafts are fun, enjoyable things you can make on your own, or with your children. I like making several Christmas angels to put around the house. Especially if you like to keep your Christmas noncommercial, it is a good reminder of what Christmas is really about.

This craft I am sharing is one of my favorites because it is easy and can be modified to your child’s age. It also can be made from materials you may have in your home, or from things you can find outside, or on their way into the trash.

Recycles Christmas Angel

Materials you will need: toilet tissue roll, a small paper plate (preferably white so you don’t have to paint it), paint, tiny pom pom, pipe cleaner, yarn, googly eyes, ribbon, glue

1. To begin, use white paint to paint the bottom 2/3 of the toilet tissue roll. For the upper 1/3 of the toilet tissue roll, use whatever color you want for the angel’s skin.

2. Cut the paper plate in half. If you want to add some sparkle, you could add some glitter (or use some sparkly nail polish) to give the wings some shine.

3. When the toilet roll is dry, take a piece of ribbon and tie it around the part where the white bottom and skin area meet. I like using white ribbon, but you can use whatever color you want. I think it makes it look more like part of the angel’s dress.

4. Glue the paper plate to the toilet tissue roll. The straight edge part should line up with the division between the white painted area and the skin color area.

5. For the hair, you will want several pieces of yarn (about 5″-6″ in length). When you have enough, put all the pieces down on a flat surface to line them up. Tie them together with another piece of yarn. Glue the hair to the inside of the toilet tissue roll. Be generous with the glue. When the glue is dry, spread out the yarn pieces so that it covers the entire hair area.

6. For the halo, use the pipe cleaner. You won’t need the entire length for this. Shape a halo. Leave about 4″ extra to glue the halo into place in the inside of the tissue roll.

7. For the face, I use the googly eyes, the pom pom for the nose, and small mouth drawn in or made out of construction paper.

Christmas angel crafts can be fun for the whole family! Start collecting those toilet paper rolls; there are several ways you can use them for crafts.
