Christmas Stocking Crafts
Christmas stocking crafts are delightful for children because they know Santa is going to fill it with goodies for them. The two ideas I’m sharing in this article can be accomplished by small children with a little bit of help.
Construction Paper Stocking
Materials you will need: red construction paper, hole puncher, red or white yarn, cotton balls or batting, scissors, glue
1. Placing two sheets of red construction together, cut two stocking shapes (as large as you can)
2. Keeping the stocking cut-outs together, take the hole puncher and punch holes around the curved sides (not the top part of the stocking). Make sure the holes are close enough together so that things that are put inside don’t fall out.
3. Cut enough yarn so that your child can hand sew the two stocking cut-outs together. Depending on the age of you child, he/she may need a little help.
4. Make sure to secure both ends of the yarn by tying them.
5. Next, you will take the cotton balls or batting and spread them out a little bit. Place some glue on the top part of the stocking to place the cotton balls or batting down for some trim.
It is fun for children to use this stocking for Christmas cards that they receive. It is also fun to decorate with.
Design Your Own Christmas Stocking
Christmas stocking crafts can be fun for even adults. There are many types of stockings you can make, from stockings that are sewn to stockings that are crocheted.
This next stocking craft requires you to purchase a plain, red stocking. You can find these for cheap at dollar stores.
Materials that you will need: plain, red stocking; glitter glue, Christmas flowers or small plastic toys, hot glue
1. First, you may want to help your child plan how they will want to decorate their stocking, or you can just give him/her creative liberty. I like even creating my own stocking from time to time.
2. Your child can use the glitter glue to write his/her name or a Christmas message, like “Merry Christmas!”
3. The fake Christmas flowers or plastic toys can be glued on the stocking with some help from an adult.
I hope you liked these Christmas stocking crafts. My family surely enjoys them!
